A Chicago Luthier

Pete Mueller has been building and repairing stringed instruments in Chicago since he was a teenager. After college, he began apprenticing under a local luthier, where he helped to build custom instruments for the likes of Jack White (White Stripes), Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), and many others. He started building guitars of his own design and, soon after, began building custom guitar commissions for local musicians.

Along with building, Pete works as a professional repair technician, and has been an instructor for guitar building and repair classes. Over the course of numerous custom builds, thousands of repairs, and hundreds of students trained, Pete discovered the shortcomings of mass production guitars, as well as how to solve these issues. PM guitars are built with an eye towards functionality, longevity, and style, combined with a level of craftsmanship that can only be achieved with handmade, custom-built instruments.
